Last Monday (7th March) we were at the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel on Park Lane for the annual charity fundraising event, Who’s Cooking Dinner? which raises money to fund vital research into the causes and treatments of Leukaemia and blood cancer.
The evening saw 20 world-class names from the culinary world come together and take over the kitchens of the hotel for one night only, cooking for 200 lucky diners. Chefs that took part in the 17th annual dinner included: Angela Hartnett (Murano), Ashley Palmer-Watts (Dinner by Heston Blumenthal), Brett Graham (The Ledbury), Bruce Poole (Chez Bruce), Chris & Jeff Galvin (Galvin Restaurants), Clare Smyth (Restaurant Gordon Ramsay), Claude Bosi (Hibiscus), Dan Doherty (Duck & Waffle), Francesco Mazzei (Sartoria), Gary Lee (The Ivy), Giorgio Locatelli (Locanda Locatelli), Hideki Hiwatashi (Sake no Hana), Mark Hix (HIX), Nathan Outlaw (Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, Outlaw’s at The Capital Hotel), Nieves Barragán Mohacho (Barrafina), Nuno Mendes (Chiltern Firehouse), Rainer Becker (Zuma), Sally Clarke with Michele Lombardi (Clarke’s), Tim Hughes (Scott’s) and Tong Chee Hwee (HKK).
The dinner raised over a staggering £500,000 with the top three auction lots collectively going for £91,000 – this included dinner cooked by Brett Graham going for £31,000, a combined dinner cooked by Angela Hartnett & Mark Hix selling for £30,000 and dinner by Rainer Becker going for £30,000. Additionally, the Godfather of English Pop Art Sir Peter Blake created a bespoke Who’s Cooking Dinner? piece of artwork exclusively for the auction.
It was a thoroughly wonderful evening for a truly amazing cause – bring on Who’s Cooking Dinner? 2017!
